He says the only fundamental that matters in a midterm election is the president's approval ratings. historically, growth in GDP, change in real disposable income, change in employment rate, various economic factors. These things have very little correlation to midterm election outcome. The only real structural factor is who's the party in the White House, and to some extent, how many seats do they hold right now?
