How well known were they to the people of Joseph's time period? Did they actually occur as he described them? Did Joseph predict additional wars beyond the Civil War?Doctrine and Covenants section 87 contains a prophecy about the Civil War given almost 30 years before the actual conflict. Specifically, the revelation foretold the division of the Southern and Northern states and the subsequent conflict, including slaves rising up against their masters. The revelation was given by Joseph Smith on December 25, 1832, in response to concerns about growing international troubles and the potential dissolution of the United States. In this episode Casey Griffiths will travel first to Kirtland, Ohio, where the Civil War prophecy was received. Joining him at his next stop in Pennsylvania is U.S. history expert Jared Riddick. While visiting the Gettysburg battle site, the two of them will discuss several facts from the Civil War contrasted with Joseph Smith's actual prophecy. Casey then travels to a military cemetery in Utah to offer his final verdict about the prophecies while visiting the grave site of his own relative, a Korean War military veteran. Do Latter-day Saints Still Live the Law of Consecration? (Restoration Revealed Episode 9)
Donate to Scripture Central:https://form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/scripture-central/restoration-revealed_ytThe Law of Consecration was revealed to Joseph Smith in Kirtland, Ohio, in February 1831. Edward Partridge was appointed the first bishop to administer the law, tasked with receiving consecrated property and allocating stewardships. Initially, Church members were asked to voluntarily deed or consecrate their property to the Church. The Church would then assign stewardships of property to members, ensuring they had enough for their families' needs. Any remaining property would be kept for the benefit of those in need. The United Order was established in 1832 as a way to help manage the law, but it faced challenges and was not fully implemented due to disagreements and conflicts. With the challenges of the past, a single question remains. Are Latter-day Saints still required to live the Law of Consecration today? Find out how the Law of Consecration is in full effect today and helping people around the world with a variety of welfare needs. This episode covers events from Doctrine and Covenants 42 and features Scripture Central special guest Stephen Jones.Come Follow MeRead more here:https://scripturecentral.org/search?q=consecration
