No, economists like to talk about money as a unit of account, a means of exchange, a store of value, which we know we can critique those definitions, but they're not really telling you what money is, right? And so these promises are basically showing our interdependence to one another, right? And so when you burn this money, when you burn this fetish object, you reveal a lot of the relationships of power that are within it, right? […]
