Why We Share Our Deepest Secrets with Strangers

In today's episode, I delve into the psychology department. Why do we share our deepest and intimate stories with strangers? Harvard researchers Diana Tamir and Jason Mitchell conducted a study in 2012 that demonstrated that when people tell stories about themselves, three parts of their brains are activated. I also explore the three psychological reasons why we open up to strangers, Tom Hanks screen-test and filming the iconic fan favorite movie Forrest Gump, how the accent helped elevate his acting performance, and lastly, how Baby Reindeer's writer/creator/star Richard Gadd used his personal experience to tell his story.
