Rome in a Day Podcast: Episode 5 ft. @scouching

On the latest episode of the ‘Rome in a Day Podcast’, I was pleased to be joined by prospect/draft analyst Will Scouch (@scouching).

Will is a contributor for McKeen’s Hockey and founded Scouching.ca. If you have not had a chance to follow Will’s work yet, I highly recommend it. Will has been scouting since 2016 and offers a unique blend of data tracking with video scouting to formulate his evaluations of players.

In this episode, Will and I discuss his background before pivoting to talk about the Ottawa Senators, their needs, how Will evaluated their 2020 draft class and what he would like to see the Senators do with the 10th overall selection.

At one point in our talk, I reference a ‘Scouching Report’ that Will made on his YouTube channel discussing Cole Sillinger.

You can watch that video here:

Thanks to Will for coming on the show. Hopefully, we will have a chance to reconnect later this month once the Senators’ picks are in.

As always, the intro liner for the podcast is Ottawa’s own Steve Adamyk Band.

Hope you enjoy the episode.

This is a public episode. Rome in a Day Podcast: Episode 4 ft The Athletic's @scottcwheeler

As the 2020-21 NHL playoffs wind down, teams out of the mix like the Ottawa Senators are already looking ahead to the offseason.

It remains to be seen whether the Senators will be able to make a splash in free agency or the trade market, but one way the Senators should make a significant addition to the team’s future is at the 2021 NHL Draft.

The draft will take place on July 23rd and 24th, which is less than a month away. To help kickstart the coverage of that draft, recently I was joined by The Athletic’s Scott Wheeler who discussed many of the first-round talents that may be available for the Senators to pick with the 10th overall selection.

The interview was conducted before Scott published his top 100 prospects for the 2021 NHL Draft, but you can find it here if you have not read that piece.

Thanks to Scott for joining me on the episode and to you listeners for checking it out. The podcast is available on every major streaming platform.

Music for the podcast intro comes from Ottawa’s own Steve Adamyk Band.

This is a public episode. Ep. 3 of the 'Rome in a Day Podcast': ft. @syl_st_laurent

Earlier this morning I recorded the third episode of the ‘Rome in a Day Podcast’ with Le Droit’s Sylvain St-Laurent. In my opinion, Sly’s been putting out some of the best written “mainstream” content for the past few years and he deserves credit and a larger audience for his work.

If you are not already, give Sylvain a follow on Twitter (@Syl_St_Laurent) and be sure to check out his archive of material at Le Droit. His most recent piece on the spectacle of Pierre Dorion’s cup throwing incident can be read here.

On the episode, we discuss the latest happenings with the Ottawa Senators. From Dorion’s infamous throw to today’s Jacob Bernard-Docker signing, we’ve got you covered.

As always, the intro music was provided by Ottawa’s own ‘Steve Adamyk Band’.

Thanks for listening. I hope you enjoy the episode!

This is a public episode.
