<p>Racism naturalizes oppression against black people in all areas of their lives, including their spirituality and faith. Since colonial times, systematic violence has taken place against people of Afro-Brazilian religions, such as Umbanda and Candomblé. In Brazil, sacred entities of Afro-Brazilian religions are primary victims of racist religious intolerance.
