Amaterasu and the Cave ☀️ The Hidden Sun Goddess — Japanese Myth Sleep Story | Fireplace ASMR
Tonight, we tell the myth of Amaterasu and the Heavenly Rock Cave — one of the oldest and most beloved stories in all of Japanese mythology, recorded in the Kojiki in the year 712.
The great goddess of the sun was wronged by her wild storm god brother. In her grief, she walked into a cave at the edge of heaven and closed the door behind her — and the world went dark.
Not just the heavenly plain, but the mortal world below it. Crops died. Spirits of mischief crept out. Nothing grew, nothing ripened, and there was no promise that the light would ever return.
Then the eight million gods of heaven gathered in council. And what they invented to lure her back out of her cave is one of the strangest, funniest, and most human moments in all of world mythology.
The second episode of our Myths of Japan series.
A calming bedtime story for adults with fireplace sounds.
Perfect for deep sleep, relaxation, and stress relief.

The Birth of Japan ⛩️ Izanagi & Izanami — Japanese Myth Sleep Story | Fireplace ASMR
Tonight, we tell the oldest story in all of Japan — the creation myth of Izanagi and Izanami, recorded in the Kojiki in the year 712.
Two gods stood on a floating bridge above a formless ocean, stirred the sea with a jeweled spear, and raised the islands of Japan from a single drop of brine. They married, gave birth to mountains and rivers and forests — and then everything went wrong.
A child born without bones. A goddess killed by fire. A husband who walked into the land of the dead to bring her back, and what he found waiting for him in the dark. A chase, a curse, a sealed stone, and at the very end — a god washing his face in a river and giving birth to the sun.
The first episode of our Myths of Japan series. A calming bedtime story for adults with fireplace sounds. Perfect for deep sleep, relaxation, and stress relief.
