In this episode we talk to Lucas Pierce, a Peruvian American Cornell University student majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Anthropology. He shares with us his family's decision to not teach his mother Quechua in an effort to protect her from racism. Still, he decides to immerse himself in the history of his people and natives across the Americas. He has a tiktok account @lomaeatspeople, where he shares indigenous historical facts in 60secs. We will learn about pre-colonial and pre-Colombian trading and political systems and how the Spanish interrupted these systems. Additionally, Pierce explains how history is relevant today.
