But they had an internal problem, which is that on their right flank, there were a bunch of people who were anti-Europe. And in an attempt to shut that down, the then Conservative Prime Minister, David Cameron, said, OK, fine, guys, I'll promise to take this to the country in a referendum. And he did not get the result that he or any sane person would want. And we voted to leave the European Union. And the consequence was that he then felt he couldn't deliver that because that wasn't something he believed in. […]
