The parallels mirror those of the 1946-1948 cycle between Truman and the so-called "do nothing" 80th Congress dominated by Republicans that saw the election of Truman in 1948 in one of the greatest electoral upsets in American history.</p>

The answer is a simple one: the acclimation of political power.</p>
