About Take a moment with Holzweiler

Welcome to the Take a Moment podcast, a space to block out the noise and let inspiration flow. Our host, Susanne Holzweiler, is also one of the founders of our company. She’s been there since the early days when Holzweiler first started operating as a small agency in Oslo, and is now at the heart of operations as we transition into a global lifestyle brand. Take a Moment with Holzweiler is a podcast inspired by Susanne’s experience of juggling life with a rapidly expanding business. Back in 2016 Susanne was operating as Holzweiler’s CEO: ‘I had been working so much and so hard, after having the business for 10 years. I had also gotten 2 small kids during that period, and it was just everything at the same time. I was working day and night - every spare second I was spending working.’ Susanne developed a bad case of burnout, and the remedy for this was quite literally to take a moment. Susanne shifted her lifestyle to allow for a space for wellness, meditation and rest, and to learn new information from books, podcasts and her peers. Inspired by this, Take a moment with Holzweiler is our new podcast where we delve deep into the stories of the people who inspire us. There’s so much to learn if we take the time to listen to other people’s experiences, and this is what this podcast creates a space to do. As our Holzweiler family continues to grow, we get to know the stories of an ever expanding range of people, from royalty to leaders in the modern wellness movement. Holzweiler sits at the intersection of life and style, therefore we often take our inspiration from the real people living life with the values that align with our own. In the rush of the working week when everyone is dashing from meeting to meeting it’s hard to find the time to let creativity flow.    Episode 57: Nektar's Veslemøy on Bees, Breathwork and Real Food

   This episode is with Veslemøy, the woman behind Nektar, one of my favourite restaurants in Oslo and the place behind our latest Holzweiler campaign. I am a food person, deeply. Real ingredients, local producers, picking things yourself when you can. Veslemøy is one of the very few people who actually lives that all the way, not just talks about it. She even keeps her own bees in her own garden, and this year they gave her the earliest honey harvest she's ever had. Every time you walk into Nektar you feel taken in with open arms, like you already belong there. Nektar is a family business, just like Holzweiler, and everyone who works there actually feels like family. Veslemøy does breathwork with her staff before every shift, and it shows: "Things don't go faster if you move faster.. the opposite happens." We talk about how Nektar came to be, foraging her own garden for dinner, why an animal needs a good life to actually taste good, and what it took to build something entirely from love and passion instead of investors and loans.    Episode 56: The Sabbatical I Didn't Know I Was Taking

   After almost a year of silence, I'm back. I never really explained why the show went quiet. The easy story is that I got busy. The true one is that I wasn't okay. This first episode back is the honest version.. why I really stepped away, what a whole year of slowing down actually taught me, and the question I am still living my way into: is it possible to keep building real things from a slower, more honest place? I share the moment a friend reframed my "burnout" as a sabbatical, and how it changed everything. The four things this pause taught me. And a small seed I want to leave you with, especially if some part of you is quietly wondering whether slowing down means you are falling behind. We live in a world that applauds doing, doing, doing. More people are burnt out and tired than ever. This is my small offering in the other direction.. permission to do less, better, and to take your own life back.
