Podcast Overview

As I stood up at the start of the war on #Tigray I realised there are thousands of untold stories from around the Horn of Africa that haven't been heard. As I saw the atrocities committed against the people of Tigray, I realised this is the same story right throughout #Ethiopia and #Eritrea. The gruesome acts of Abiy Ahmed, Isias Aferwerki and the political elite, have not just been contained to Tigray. To help change the course of the future Ethiopia and Eritrea and ensure a peaceful transition I have created this show. To learn from the stories of others and promote friendship and peace.

Tales from the Horn ep 4.2 Dr Tsegaye R Ararssa, the Oromo Protests, EPRDF, anti-TPLF media and just being a good human

If there was ever a question you had about the Oromo existance in the "27 years" of the EPRDF, it will be covered in this episode. But ultimately Dr Tsegaye teaches us about the power struggles, the protest movements and the incoming take over of Abiy Ahmed. He provides a very fair analysis of the EPRDF and highlights how the anti-TPLF sentiments and "Woyane are the enemy" narratives were able to spread throughout the society. He discusses the issue of the OPDO through the eyes of the Oromo society. But most of all the amazing Dr explains why standing for humanity and actually utilising the in place constitution to its full potential, can save many many lives today, tomorrow and in the future.

#Oromo #Tigray #Ethiopia #Eritrea #HornOfAfrica #AbiyAhmed

Tales from the Horn ep 4.1 Dr Tsegaye R Ararssa the Gadaa system young Finfinnee and Law School

Aiming for 30 to 40 minutes each episode, I wasn't able to stop the interview because the life of Dr Tsegaye R Ararssa reveals not only the hidden history of Oromia and the Ethiopian Empire, but also the landscape of the Oromo oppression over the centuries. In part one we hear stories of the Gada initiation process and what shaped his experiences in law school and as a young federal prosecutor for the EPRDF government. Part 2 to be aired later and we hear all about what it is that led to Tsegaye truly becoming a voice for all the voiceless and oppressed peoples of Ethiopia. As well as a shared discussion on the controversial political and media space of the labelled "27 Years". #Ethiopia #Oromia #Tigray #Eritrea

Tales from the Horn Ep 3. Fthawi and life in Gondar as a Tigraway

Life in Gondar was not always a deadly experience for a Tegaru. So what changed? What went wrong?

From life in a small village bordering Axum to preparatory school in Mekelle then to a bachelors experience in Gondar and a Masters in the USA, Fthawi explains the shift from peace to hate. But perhaps these are answers we can only truly understand when the people of Gondar and Amhara region start to explain.

#Tigray #TigrayGenocide #Ethiopia #Amhara #Gondar #Axum #Mekelle #Diversity #Peace
