Our Culture, Our History with Jamaican Youth and Jamaican Historians. #TalkUpYout

Our History! Listen to one of the most informative radio sessions with the Youth of Jamaica and special guests Professor Verene Shepherd and Steven Golding.

It is often said that Jamaica is losing its culture. Our people fondly remember the days of gathering as a family and even as a community to share what food we had with others, talk about the day’s news and tell duppy story fi di pickney dem. Those days have been replaced with children coming home to an empty house, eating foreign cereal while watching foreign cartoons on TV and surfing the net. No face to face human interaction, no communication.

But we the youth want to know our history, we want to connect with our culture, and we are dissatisfied with the lack of available information so we’re going to experts, the griots and we’re gathering like our foreparents did to hear the stories of our history and of our culture.
