Andrew Stuck has come to Gothenburg on Sweden’s western coast to interview her and learn about her passion for a Japanese performing arts step called Suriashi (also practised in tea ceremony and martial arts). Not only does she practice Suriashi daily but she uses it in her teaching and through that encourages others to use it in meditation and peaceful protest. </p> <p>So, join them on this walk through a busy modern city occasionally adopting an ancient Suriashi step and turning themselves invisible. </p> <p>28’10” 13.2MB</p> <p>Download notes from this interview:</p> <div data-wp-interactive="core/file" class="wp-block-file"><object data-wp-bind--hidden="!state.hasPdfPreview" hidden class="wp-block-file__embed" data="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Ami-Skanberg_podcast_notes_APP.pdf" type="application/pdf" style="width:100%;height:600px" aria-label="Embed of Ami Skanberg_podcast_notes."></object><a id="wp-block-file--media-f3f0536b-3818-43c2-9ada-32803c8f223b" href="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Ami-Skanberg_podcast_notes_APP.pdf">Ami Skanberg_podcast_notes</a><a href="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Ami-Skanberg_podcast_notes_APP.pdf" class="wp-block-file__button wp-element-button" download aria-describedby="wp-block-file--media-f3f0536b-3818-43c2-9ada-32803c8f223b">Download</a></div> <figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex"> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/SuriashiwNishikawaSenrei.jpg"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" data-id="7640" src="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/SuriashiwNishikawaSenrei-1024x576.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7640" srcset="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/SuriashiwNishikawaSenrei-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/SuriashiwNishikawaSenrei-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/SuriashiwNishikawaSenrei-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/SuriashiwNishikawaSenrei-624x351.jpg 624w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/SuriashiwNishikawaSenrei.jpg 1366w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">In this photo Ami practices with Nishikawa Senrei, Kyoto 2011<br></figcaption></figure> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Orgelkoreografi.jpeg"><img decoding="async" width="702" height="1024" data-id="7628" src="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Orgelkoreografi-702x1024.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-7628" srcset="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Orgelkoreografi-702x1024.jpeg 702w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Orgelkoreografi-206x300.jpeg 206w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Orgelkoreografi-768x1120.jpeg 768w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Orgelkoreografi-1053x1536.jpeg 1053w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Orgelkoreografi-624x910.jpeg 624w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Orgelkoreografi.jpeg 1170w" sizes="(max-width: 702px) 100vw, 702px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Improvising to two giant organs (dance)</figcaption></figure> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Parisapp5.jpg"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" data-id="7627" src="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Parisapp5-1024x576.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7627" srcset="https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Parisapp5-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Parisapp5-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Parisapp5-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Parisapp5-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Parisapp5-624x351.jpg 624w, https://www.talkingwalking.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Parisapp5.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Domesticated pilgrimage in Carina Ari’s apartment in Paris (Suriashi)</figcaption></figure> </figure> <p>Image credits: Feature – Pethrin; Kyoto, 2011- Folke Johansson; Improvising – Karin Brygger </p>
