Podcast Overview

Welcome to my weekly discussion of all things concerning great indie games on the Nintendo Switch. After building Nindie Spotlight since the Switch launch, and accumulating a ton of information and insights from playing and reviewing over 2750 indie games on the system I decided to open the floor to questions from my followers/subscribers, and this is the result!

Episode 10: Genre Origins and Early Examples

This episode was less based on a question as a request for taking a deep dive into when genres originally emerged and when, with a focus on whether or not they existed before, around, or after the 8-bit era. Episode 9: How to Support Indie Devs and Roguelike Vs. Roguelite

In this episode we'll be breaking down how to overcome potential feelings of guilt for people who've ended up enjoying indie games essentially for free through things like GamePass, Humble Bundle, or a variety of other means. The emphasis ends up on being an advocate and a fan, and that the people who've given their games to things like this are making a calculated investment... so just be sure down the line to honor and reward that investment, even if it may not be on this specific game. Then we get into roguelikes versus roguelites, their distinctions, and why ultimately I don't end up bothering with it the majority of the time. Thanks to the dedicated fan Dan from Canada for this week's questions!

Episode 8: "If I made a game", and the State of Indies and the Switch

Another week, and another pair of questions, this time from two long-time fans of the site Dan From Canada and the incomparable Grillz Von Sizzle. The discussion includes thoughts on game development and what sort of game I would make if I was so inclined, and then the general state of Indies and the Nintendo Switch (platform power and eShop discovery mainly) and what Nintendo could be doing better in order to try to help
