[…] And in a way, there's a funny kind of way in which my book sort of entered the public domain in the sense that everything everybody knew about Gein, whether it was acknowledged or not, came from my book. So anyway, I was sure nobody from Ryan Murphy's organization got in touch with me. And their whole position, it's one of the problems if you do the kind of writing I do. Because the kind of writing I do is based on research that is in the public domain. So, you know, their argument was, and I learned a lot about intellectual property rights. The thing about deviant was, and all my books is I take all this very dry documentary material, old newspapers and psychiatric reports, you know, court records and so on and convert it into a page, hopefully page turning narrative.
