Maha Kaviyam Mahabharatham - Chapter 1
மகாபாரதம் சந்தனுவின் திருமணம் முன்னொரு காலத்தில் வளம் மிகுந்த நகரமாக அத்தினாபுரம் விளங்கியது. சந்தனு என்ற அரசன் அதை ஆண்டு வந்தான். வீரமும் நற்பண்புகளும் நிறைந்த அவன் வேட்டையாடச் சென்றான். கங்கைக் கரையில் பேரழகுடைய பெண் ஒருத்தியைப் பார்த்தான். அவள் அழகில் தன்னை மறந்தான். “பெண்ணே ! அத்தினாபுரத்தை ஆளும் அரசன் நான். என் உள்ளத்தை நீ கவர்ந்து விட்டாய். உன்னைத் திருமணம் செய்து கொள்ள விரும்புகிறேன்" என்றான். “அரசே! நான் யார் என்று நீங்கள் விசாரிக்கக் கூடாது. நான் எது செய்தாலும் தடுக்கக் கூடாது. இவற்றிற்கு ஒப்புக் கொண்டால் நாம் திருமணம் செய்து கொள்ளலாம். மாறாக எப்பொழுது நடந்தாலும் அப்பொழுதே உங்களைப் பிரிந்து 'விடுவேன்" என்றாள். . “உன் விருப்பப்படியே என்றும் நடப்பேன்" என்று வாக்குறுதி தந்தான் அவன். இருவருக்கும் திருமணம் நடந்தது. மகிழ்ச்சியாக வாழ்க்கை நடத்தினார்கள். இல்லறத்தின் பயனாக அவளுக்கு அழகான ஆண் குழந்தை பிறந்தது. பிறந்த பச்சிளங் குழந்தையைத் தூக்கிச் சென்றாள் அவள். அதைக் கங்கை ஆற்றில் வீசிக் கொன்றாள். இந்தக் கொடுமையைப் பார்த்தான் சந்தனு. வாக்குறுதியை மீறக் கூடாது என்று பொறுமையாக இருந்தான். இப்படியே அவளுக்கு ஏழு குழந்தைகள் பிறந்தன. ஒவ்வொன்றையும் தூக்கிச் சென்று கங்கை ஆற்றில் வீசிக் கொன்றாள். எட்டாவது. குழந்தையும் பிறந்தது. அதை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு புறப்பட்டாள். பொறுமை இழந்தான் சந்தனு. அவளை தடுத்து நிறுத்தினான் சந்தனு. "பெற்ற குழந்தைகளை - இரக்கமே இல்லாமல் கொல்கிறாயே. நீயும் ஒரு பெண்ணா ? என்ன நடந்தாலும் இந்தக் குழந்தையைக் கொல்ல விட மாட்டேன்" என்று உறுதியுடன் சொன்னான். ''எனக்குத் தந்த வாக்குறுதியை மீறி விட்டீர்கள். விதியை வெல்ல யாராலும் முடியாது. நாம் பிரிய வேண்டிய நேரம் வந்து விட்டது. 'நான் யார் என்ற உண்மையைச் சொல்கிறேன். எல்லோராலும் போற்றி வணங்கப்படும் கங்கா தேவி நான். தேவர்களின் வேண்டுகோளுக்கு இணங்கி உங்களுடன் வாழ்ந்தேன்” என்றாள் அவள். அதிர்ச்சியும் வியப்பும் அடைந்த அவன் “நீ கங்கா தேவியா? தேவர்களின் வேண்டுகோளா? ஒன்றும் புரியவில்லையே” என்றான். - “அரசே! வசுக்கள் எண்மர் இந்திரனுக்கு உதவியாளர்களாக இருந்தனர். அவர்கள் ஒரு முறை வசிஷ்ட முனிவரின் ஆசிரமத்திற்கு வந்தார்கள். அங்கே கேட்டதை எல்லாம் தரும் நந்தினிப் பசு இருந்தது. வசுக்களில் ஒருவரான தியூ “துறவிக்கு எதற்கு இந்தப் பசு? நாம் இதை இழுத்துச் செல்வோம்" என்றான். மற்றவர்களும் ஒப்புக் கொண்டனர். அந்தப் பசுவைத் தேவர் உலகம் இழுத்து வந்தனர். ஆசிரமம் திரும்பிய வசிஷ்ட முனிவர் நடந்ததை அறிந்தார். “வசுக்கள் எண்மரும் மனிதர்களாகப் பிறக்கக் கடவது” என்று சாபம் தந்தார். இரக்கம் கொண்ட வசிஷ்டர், இந்தக் குற்றத்திற்கு தியூவே பொறுப்பு. மற்றவர்கள் அவனுக்குத் துணையாக இருந்தீர்கள். அதனால் தியூ மட்டும் நீண்டகாலம் மனிதனாக வாழ்வான். அங்கே அவன் உலகம் போற்ற வாழ்வான். மற்றவர்களின் சாபம் பூவுலகில் பிறந்தவுடன் நீங்கும்" என்றார். சாபம் பெற்ற வசுக்கள் எண்மரும் என்னிடம் வந்தார்கள். "பூவுலகில் நானே அவர்களுக்குத் தாயாக இருக்க வேண்டும்" என்று வேண்டினார்கள். நானும் ஒப்புக் - கொண்டேன். சாபத்தை நீக்கவே அவர்கள் பிறந்தவுடன் ஆற்றில் வீசிக் கொன்றேன். இந்தக் குழந்தை இளைஞனாகும் வரை நான் வளர்க்கிறேன் என்றாள் அவள். குழந்தையுடன் கங்கை - ஆற்றில் மூழ்கி மறைந்தாள். பதினாறு ஆண்டுகள் கழிந்தன. வழக்கம் போலக் காட்டிற்கு வேட்டையாடச் சென்றான் சந்தனு. அங்கே கங்கைக் கரையில் அழகிய இளைஞன் ஒருவன் நின்றிருந்தான். அம்புகளால் அணை கட்டிக் கங்கை ஆற்றையே தடுத்து இருந்தான். இப்படிப்பட்ட வில்லாற்றலா என்று வியந்து நின்றான் சந்தனு. அப்பொழுது கங்காதேவி அங்கே தோன்றினாள். - “அரசே! இவன் உன் மகன் காங்கேயன். எல்லாக் - கலைகளிலும் வல்லவனாக இவனை வளர்த்து உள்ளேன். இவனை வெல்பவர் யாரும் இல்லை. பரசுராமர், வசிஷ்ட மனிவர் மற்றும் பலரிடம் கல்வி கற்று உள்ளான். உங்களிடம் ஒப்படைக்கிறேன்" என்ற அவள் மறைந்தாள். மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்த சாந்தனு தன் மகனுடன் அத்தினாபுரம் வந்தான். காங்கேயன் தன் நற்பண்புகளால் மக்கள் உள்ளங்களைக் கவர்ந்தான். இளவரசனாக அவனுக்கு மணிமுடி சூட்டினார்கள். சாபம் பெற்றதை அறிந்த வசுக்கள் கலங்கினார்கள். வசிஷ்டரின் திருவடிகளில் விழுந்தார்கள். "அறியாமல் பிழை செய்துவிட்டோம். எங்களை மன்னித்து சாபத்தை நீக்கி அருள வேண்டும்" என்று வேண்டினார்கள். ----- Mahabharata Marriage of Santhanu In the past, Attinapuram was a prosperous city. முன்னுரை வியாச முனிவர் அருளியதே மகாபாரதம் ஆகும். அவர் சொல்லச் சொல்ல விநாயகப் பெருமான் எழுதினார் என்ற புராணக் கதை இந்நூலின் பெருமையை வெளிப்படுத்தும். மகாபாரதக் கதை எண்ணிலடங்காத கிளைக் கதைகளைக் கொண்ட மகாக் காப்பியமாகும். உலகில் உள்ள எந்த ஒரு மனிதனையும் இதில் உள்ள ஒரு கதாபாத்திரத்துடன் ஒப்பிட்டுக் காட்டலாம் என்பர். இந்நூலில் சொல்லப்படாத நீதிக் கருத்துக்களே இல்லை. தந்தையின் மகிழ்ச்சிக்காக வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் பிரம்மச்சாரியாகவே வாழ்ந்த பீஷ்மர், நண்பர்களுக்காக உடன் பிறந்த சகோதரர்களுடன் போரிட்டு உயிர் துறந்த கொடை வள்ளல் கர்ணன், பலம் மிக்க பீமன், வில்லாற்றலில் சிறந்த அர்ச்சுனன், நீதிநெறி தவறாமல் வாழ்ந்த தருமன், ஆசிரியர்களுக்குப் பெருமை சேர்த்த துரோணாச்சாரியார் இப்படி இந்நூலில் நம் நெஞ்சைக் கவர்ந்த பாத்திரங்களைச் சொல்லிக் கொண்டே போகலாம். மகாபாரதத்தை இயன்ற அளவு சுருக்கி எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது. இன்றியமையாத நிகழ்வுகள் எவையும் விடுபடாமல் தொகுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அனைவரும் புரிந்து கொள்ளும் வண்ணம் இனிய எளிய நடையில் சுவையும் விறுவிறுப்பும் குன்றாமல் தந்துள்ளோம். பாரத நாட்டின் பழம்பெரும் காப்பியங்களில் இதுவும் ஒன்றாகும். இந்த நூல் அறநெறி போதிப்பதுடன் வாழ்க்கையின் உண்மைகளையும் கிருஷ்ண உபதேசம் மூலம் விளக்குகிறது. இந்த புத்தகத்தில் இறுதியில் கிருஷ்ண உபதேசமும் அதன் விளக்கமும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அனைவரும் இப்புத்தகத்தை படித்து பயன்பெறுவோமாக.
