Podcast Overview

Summary:

Fed up with the Tether—a governmental limit put on the use of magic—the citizens of the Northern Union untether themselves and try to revolt.

Ten years after their failed revolution, most of the Untethered have either been executed or gone into hiding. A few revolutionaries, like Ivan Clearwater, exist on the outskirts of society. Not that Ivan minds, his life is simple and respectable. He’s allowed to run a business he loves, and so long as he keeps his head down, the Department of Crime Prevention leaves him alone. It's not perfect, but for Ivan, it's more than enough. That is, until he makes the ill-advised decision to help a very drunk Aaron Page—anti-revolutionary hero extraordinaire turned Crime Prevention Officer and Ivan’s bitter rival.

True to form, Page takes Ivan’s help as an open invitation to invade his home, his heart, and drag Ivan into the political mess that the Northern Union has become. And of course he does, because how can Aaron Page come into contact with anyone, without getting them involved in the self sacrificing bullshit that is saving the world?

When a violent fire that consumes the North Port is pinned onto Ivan, sending his well curated life careening out of control, Ivan is forced to finally confront the violence and discrimination still infecting his country.

Together with Page, Ivan decides to form a reconciliation committee. But things are not so simple—the national divide serves a great many people, and few are willing to relinquish their power for societal peace.

(Opening and closing music provided by classicals.de)
