[…] Just tell us a little bit about who this guy is, particularly, you know, sort of... the cloud that is hung over his head for some time. Sure. Ken Paxton has been the attorney general since 2015, so he's wrapping up his third term. He has been in sort of a cloud of scandal pretty much the entire time he's been attorney general. When he was elected in 2014, he was already under indictment for securities fraud related to some work he had done while he was a member of the legislature. That case dragged on for years and years until it resolved in 2023. He was also impeached by the legislature, the Republican-led House of Representatives, also in 2023, basically alleging that he had abused his office to help his friend, an Austin real estate investor who was in some financial trouble.
