Text Messages Episode 3: Being a Guest and Entering the Promised Land
<p>This episode, once again recorded by Rabbi Ullman, Jonah Tobin, and Hannah Kearney, explores Deuteronomy 30: 1-5:</p> <p>When all these things befall you—the blessing and the curse that I have set before you—and you take them to heart amidst the various nations to which the LORD your God has banished you, and you return to the LORD your God, and you and your children heed His command with all your heart and soul, just as I enjoin upon you this day, then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and take you back in love. He will bring you together again from all the peoples where the LORD your God has scattered you. Even if your outcasts are at the ends of the world, from there the LORD your God will gather you, from there He will fetch you. And the LORD your God will bring you to the land that your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will make you more prosperous and more numerous than your fathers.</p> <p>Along the way, we explored several different ideas, including what it means to know that you are only guests in the promised land, holding on too tightly to what should really be evolving, and the difference between something with no matter and something that is full of the Ruach of God. </p> <p><br></p> <p><br></p>

Text Messages Episode 2: Idealization, Idolatry, Cain and Abel
<p>This episode, recorded once again by Rabbi Ullman, Jonah Tobin, and Hannah Kearney, explores Genesis 4: 1-5: </p> <p>Now the man knew his wife Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gained a male child with the help of the LORD.” She then bore his brother Abel. Abel became a keeper of sheep, and Cain became a tiller of the soil. In the course of time, Cain brought an offering to the LORD from the fruit of the soil; and Abel, for his part, brought the choicest of the firstlings of his flock. The LORD paid heed to Abel and his offering, but to Cain and his offering, He paid no heed. </p> <p>Throughout the episode, we touch on several themes including body image, whether we are serving ourselves or serving God, and so much more! </p> <p><br></p> <p><br></p>
