Can the Bible Speak to Our Current Situations?

In this first episode, CJ and his brother Ben, talk about why the Bible is greatest book of advice for all areas of life.

If you want to let us know how we did or what topics we should discuss in the future, you can email us at: tsppodcast2024@gmail.com

For anyone curious, here is the list of verses from today's episode:

Finances:
God gives us the ability to produce wealth: “But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.” (Deut. 8:18)

Greed is always discouraged: “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers-not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve;” (1 Peter 5:2)

“Whoever is greedy for unjust gain troubles his own household, but he who hates bribes will live.” (Proverbs 15:27)

“Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 5:10)

Plan Ahead: “A wise man thinks ahead; a fool doesn’t, and even brags about it!” (Proverbs 13:16)

“The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” (Proverbs 21:5)

Relationships:

For Husbands and Wives: Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. (Col. 3:19)

For People entering into romantic relationships: Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? (2 Cor. 6:14)

For Single People: “Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.” (Isaiah 30:18)

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. (Isaiah 55:6)

I want you to be free from concern. The unmarried man is concerned about the work of the Lord, how he can please the Lord. 33 But the married man is concerned about the affairs of this world, how he can please his wife, 34 and his interests are divided. The unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the work of the Lord, how she can be holy in both body and spirit. But the married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world, how she can please her husband. (1 Cor. 7:32-34)

Friendships:

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. (1 Thess. 5:11)

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” (1 Cor. 15:33)

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: (Ecc. 4:9)

Walk with God:

Benefits: “He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. (Psalm 23:3)

“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” (Psalm 16:11)

What it means to Walk: “Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.'” (John 14:23)

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” (James 1:22)

What It Looks Like to Walk: 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, Phil. 2:15

Promises: “The Lord replied, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.'” (Exodus 33:14)

“He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” (Psalm 91:15)
