When Dr. Shukla interviewed him, he was just one month into his recovery, offering a powerful firsthand account of addiction, loss, and the difficult road to redemption.</p>

<p>This is Part 1 of our interview with Candy Schwartz, whose father was tragically killed in an intersection collision with a semi-truck. The driver of the truck was impaired, under the influence of methamphetamine.</p><p>Candy shares her powerful story of loss, her mission to honor her father’s memory, and how that experience inspired her to take action. Motivated by her grief and determination, she helped introduce House Bill 3304 in the state of Oklahoma, aiming to reform how and to whom commercial driver’s licenses are issued.</p><p>She also continues to push for safety improvements at the very intersection where her father’s life was taken.</p>
