This year’s SOX Survey was done in the first quarter of 2020, before the full scope and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was realised. However, it is still very relevant since, results largely reflect SOX programs and work performed in fiscal year 2019. More than 700 respondents from publicly held organisations participated in Protiviti’s 2020 Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Survey. On this episode, I talk about the rise and fall of Enron, how it happened and a deep dive into the accounting scandal and will be going through Journal of Accountancy article issued at 2002 by C. It was founded in 1985 as a merger between Houston Natural Gas and InterNorth, both relatively small regional companies. Before its bankruptcy on December 3, 2001, Enron employed approximately 29,000 staff and was a major electricity, natural gas, communications and pulp and paper company, with claimed revenues of nearly $101 billion during 2000.
