Musk says US government responsible after Ukrainian military access to Starlink satellites cut
SpaceX chief Elon Musk says any restrictions affecting Ukraine’s use of the Starshield satellite communications system are the responsibility of the US government, not his company.
The comments come amid concerns that connectivity issues could affect Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russian attacks and operate interceptor drones.
The situation has sparked criticism in Washington, with both Democrats and Republicans raising concerns about the impact on Ukraine’s defence and the wider US role in the conflict.
Paul Rogers, Emeritus Professor of Peace Studies at the University of Bradford, joined us on the Agenda this morning to discuss what these developments mean for Ukraine and how they could affect the course of the war.

Backlash against Louth campervan park grows as sports clubs and residents make feelings known - 15/10/26
Plans to develop a campervan park at Dundalk’s Navvy Bank are facing growing opposition, with 109 submissions made to Louth County Council objecting to the proposals.
The plans include serviced campervan facilities, a playground and mini-golf, but local sporting clubs and residents have raised concerns about the loss of valuable community space, as well as potential noise, traffic and anti-social behaviour.
Sean O’Mahony’s GFC and Quay Celtic FC have both objected, highlighting the shortage of playing and training facilities in the area, with Quay Celtic saying it has already had to turn children away due to a lack of space.
Councillor Shane McGuinness has also voiced his opposition, warning that the development could affect the character of the nearby residential area.
He joined us on The Agenda this morning, to discuss the concerns, the impact on the local community and what he believes should happen to the site.

Drogheda North Train Station Proposal Under Review as Minister Signals Support - 15/10/2026
The possibility of a new train station on the north side of Drogheda has received a boost, with the Minister for Transport, Darragh O’Brien, indicating that he understands the case for the proposal and that it remains under review.
The issue was raised in the Dáil by local representatives, including Sinn Féin TD Joanna Byrne and Fine Gael TD Paula Butterly.
The Minister said that while a new station is not currently planned, the proposal will continue to be considered in light of population growth, future development and passenger numbers.
He also highlighted planned improvements under the DART+ Coastal North project, including extending electrification to Drogheda and adding a new platform at Drogheda MacBride Station.
