THE ALICE WILDS & TYANNA BUIE - THE ROLE OF THE TRADITIONAL GALLERY amid GEORGE FLOYD AND BLACK LIVES MATTER PROTESTS: WHAT NOW?!

The Alice Wilds Presents: The Role of the Traditional Gallery amid George Floyd and Black Lives Matter Protests: What Now?

In discussions with Tyanna Buie, who is represented by the Alice Wilds, and the co-creator/moderator for this event, an online zoom panel discussion on the role of the traditional gallery in the world today was created, as we addressed systemic issues of race and injustice in this country, along with other notable curators and community arts advocates throughout the country. The Alice Wilds is focused on promoting art and artists and we acknowledge the need to address these difficult topics and hope to stimulate constructive and sincere conversations for galleries, artists, and our patrons on what practicing anti-racism means in today’s society, and more specifically inside the art world. This Zoom Panel discussion was pre-recorded on Friday, July 17th 2020.

Who:

The Alice Wilds Gallery http://www.thealicewilds.com/ - @thealicewilds

Moderator/Co-Creator: Tyanna Buie, Artist and Educator (https://tyannajbuie.com/home.html - @tyanna_buie)

Panelists include the following gallery owners, curators, artists, and community arts advocates from Wisconsin, Illinois, New York, and New Mexico.

Anais Duplan ( Panelist - https://worksofanais.com - @an.duplan )

Jenie Gao ( Panelist - https://jenie.org/#intro @jeniegao )

Michelle Grabner ( Panelist - https://www.michellegrabner.com/ - @michelleagrabner )

Josh Hintz ( Panelist - https://www.vargallery.com - @vargallery - @varwestgallery - @hawthorncontemporary )

Frank Juarez (Panelist - https://www.fjgmke.com - @frankjuarezgallery - @artdosemagazine )

Leah Kolb ( Panelist - @leahckolb - @mmocamadison - @plumblossominitiative )

Lucy Mensah, PhD ( Panelist - @lkmensah )

Polly Morris, PhD ( Panelist - https://www.lyndensculpturegarden.org @lyndedsculpturegarden - @nohlfellows )

Maureen Ragalie ( Panelist - https://fellowship.art @maureen_ragalie - @fellowship.art )

John Riepenhoff ( Panelist - http://www.thegreengallery.biz - @thegreengallery )

John Sobczak ( Panelist - http://www.thealicewilds.com - @thealicewilds )

Kaylee Aragon Wallis ( Panelist - https://zanebennettgallery.com - @zanebennettgallery - @kyleea )

Deb Brehmer ( Contributor - https://www.portraitsocietygallery.com - @portraitsocietygallery )

Simone DeSousa ( Contributor - https://www.simonedesousagallery.com - @simonedesousagallery )
