The Creative Thread is a podcast about art, process, and the stories behind the work.
Hosted by photographer Meg Loeks, each episode explores what drives people to create: where ideas come from, how artists find their voice, and what keeps them going when the work feels uncertain.
Through conversations with artists and solo reflections, this podcast focuses on the in-between: the experimentation, the passion projects, and the quieter parts of building a creative life with intention.
Meg Loeks continues her conversation with photographer and educator Sarah Cornish, focusing on the emotional roots of Sarah’s work, her long path into photography, and the way motherhood, memory, and neurodivergence shape her creative voice. They also talk candidly about boundaries, social media pressure, community, and why making art often means learning to let go of perfection.
In this episode, Sarah Cornish shares how her personal history informs the nostalgic, emotionally charged images she creates, and why she sees photography as a way to preserve the feelings she does not want to forget. Meg and Sarah also discuss vulnerability, self-acceptance, and the realities of building a creative business while raising a family.

Have We Forgotten How to Observe?
What if the thing holding back your creativity isn't a lack of talent, but a lack of noticing? Observation is a practice. The more efficiently we move through life, the less room we leave for curiosity, wonder, and original ideas.
In this episode, Meg draws a sharp distinction between looking and observing, exploring how curiosity transforms a passing glance into a story. She shares how attention shapes what becomes meaningful, memorable, and ultimately art-worthy.
You'll discover why children seem endlessly curious, how our brains are wired to predict the familiar, and why that can quietly flatten creativity. Meg also shares how her own ideas rarely arrive as fully formed concepts. Instead, they begin as ordinary details she notices in everyday life.
If you've ever felt creatively stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from your artistic instincts, this episode offers a gentle reset. Instead of chasing another editing trick, another lens, or another trend, Meg invites you to slow down, ask better questions, and make space for observation again.

If you've ever wondered how artists transform hard moments into meaningful work, I think you'll really enjoy this conversation.

Elizabeth Blank
I sit down with underwater portrait photographer, Elizabeth Blank, to explore the stories that emerge beneath the surface. Our conversation goes far beyond the technical side of underwater photography. We discuss how working underwater requires patience, trust, and a willingness to surrender control, and how those qualities have shaped Elizabeth's creative voice. We talk about using light, movement, and environment to create images that feel deeply emotional, the quiet that comes with photographing beneath the water, and why slowing down can often lead to more meaningful work. Whether you're a photographer or simply someone navigating your own creative journey, this conversation is a thoughtful reminder that some of the most powerful stories are discovered when we embrace uncertainty and allow ourselves the space to create with intention.
