[…] And I would go for me to the model or idea, Michael, of that addiction, especially if it's been going on for a while, it sets up this emotional or even spiritual hole. And people need to fill that hole. And that the addictive process, again, whether it's process addictions or alcohol or drugs, in the short term, does a great job of healing that hole. The problem is afterwards, there's all kinds of negative consequences, right? But I think what I would talk about with a new therapist would be, first of all, just trying to understand and think about what an attachment wound is, especially from childhood. […]
