[…] I'm not suggesting that every memory I had was mistaken. That's not true. The pain I felt and the effort I put into mothering remain very much a part of that history. What has changed is how much of the relationship I've been able to consider while holding those truths. There were things that happened beyond what I understood from my position within the family.
