You pray and you spend some time talking to someone that truly helps you. Maybe it's your pastor or maybe it's your estrangement coach. You're feeling better. You feel stronger and hopeful about a possible reconciliation with your estranged adult child. Then, soon after, maybe a few days, a relative calls and tells you that your estranged son or daughter said they just don't have the emotional bandwidth to work it out with you.
