[…] And I think the test is of some use, but it's not quite as useful as it might at first sound, because preeclampsia could happen to anybody, thankfully. Most cases happen towards the end. They can be managed if it gets really bad. deliver, but the baby's advanced enough to not have major problems associated with that. What we would love to have is a test that could tell us whether someone was going to get severe early onset preeclampsia. But there is a test you can have in the first trimester where they look at the way the blood is flowing in the uterine arteries. And that can identify some of the abnormal placental development that is associated with preeclampsia. […]
