[…] But time heals all things, as they say, and eventually, the sadness faded into the background. And slowly but surely, things got back to something approaching normal. And then by the time I was seventeen, talk of me going off to school was in the air, and I was very excited about it. I was on course to getting all A's and B's, which would secure me a place in my first choice of college, and the worst thing on the horizon was the prospect of saying goodbye to my current school friends. I was actually really anxious about it.
