[…] I believe one important philosophy in filmmaking. If I shoot you an action sequence shot for shot verbatim of the exact same car chase. One of them is a character that you don't really care about. And one is something you're emotionally in love with and you're rooting for him. Audiences 10 out of 10 are going to say that action sequence is better than the other one that I care about. Even though they're identical, right? And it's just when you create scenes that are so powerful, the action's better. It's just better, right? Because you're rooting for them. And then, yes, you still have to execute well, but you can't forget what's more important is the character and what's gotten us to that point. […]
