A Repeat Offender! Agri Expo Judge Special - The One & Only Boomer Birch
This week on The One & Only, we’re joined by a man who knows his way around a show ring, Boomer Birch, Beef Programme Manager at Cogent Breeding Ltd and, importantly, the Main Cattle Judge for the 2026 Borderway Agri Expo.
Being handed the job of judging the cattle at Agri Expo is no small task, and we’re delighted to welcome Boomer to Carlisle this year to take centre stage in the ring and place his champions.
A well-known and respected face in the beef world, Boomer farms in Staffordshire alongside his wife Millie and has spent years immersed in the industry, both professionally and at home. He’s enjoyed success showing cattle at a high level and has plenty of experience standing in the middle of the ring with the difficult job of making the decisions.
Ahead of his trip north for Borderway Agri Expo 2026, we get to know the man behind the judging stick. We talk cattle, breeding, showing and judging, what catches his eye in the ring, and some of the characters and experiences he’s encountered along the way.
