The thought of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Universal Doctor of the Church, is our touchstone. The Thomistic Institute Podcast features the lectures and talks from our conferences, campus chapters events, intellectual retreats, livestream events, and much more. Founded in 2009, the Thomistic Institute is part of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC.

[…] Do the thing I just did. What did he just do? He offered the once for all sacrifice for the salvation of the world. And then he says, shockingly, to the apostles, he doesn't say, now, remember that I did this. Tell other people that I did this. He says, you do this. That's how you will remember. Your doing of it. Your offering of what I have offered. That's your remembrance of me. So when Jesus says do this, he gives us a share, unworthy though we are, in offering his saving sacrifice. The sacrifice of propitiation for the forgiveness of sins. I think here we have the basic reason, the root of the matter, as to why the Church has, from the beginning, understood the Eucharist as a sacrifice and not simply as a remembrance of Christ's own sacrifice.
