Well, let's start with the Prime Minister here and each of your takes on why you think he decided to escalate this project and give it that national interest designation and pump a ton of public money into it. Shannon, what's your take? Well, you know, I think Mark Carney really had something to prove when he came into office, which is that he could get big things built. And this is a regulatory step, obviously, in terms of its designation as a national interest project, meaning that it can bypass a number of the usual regulatory hurdles. That is a demonstration, I think, to the rest of the world that Canada is serious about getting big things built so that we can open up new markets, and diversify our trading relationships. […]
