5. Lenin is terug
April 1917. Tsaar Nicolaas de II is afgezet en aan de macht is nu een voorlopige regering. Die bestaat uit de chique heren van de Doema, en de Sovjets (de bolsjewieken en de mensjewieken). De oorlog woedt nog volop, de bevolking lijdt honger en in het leger word er massaal gedeserteerd. Er is nood aan een nieuwe visie en vooral aan kordaat leiderschap. En dan : op 3 april 1917 arriveert Lenin in het Finlandstation van Sint-Petersburg na jaren in ballingschap te hebben doorgebracht.

4. De Romanovs
Op een natte,winderige ochtend in februari 1913 viert St-Petersburg het 300-jarig jubileum van het bewind van de Romanovs in Rusland. Het is een feest waarvan de hele bevolking mag meegenieten. Na de laatste grote opstand van 1905 had het tsarenrijk relatief rustige tijden gekend. Voor Tsaar Nicolaas II is er dus geen enkele reden om wat dan ook te veranderen. Maar dan breekt de Eerste Wereldoorlog uit....

3. Raspoetin
Een Tsaar te zijn in het Rusland van de 19de eeuw, het was de moeilijkste job ter wereld. Dat mochten Alexander II, Alexander III en Nicolaas II aan de lijve ondervinden. Gelukkig kon Nicolaas II altijd beroep doen op de wijze raad van een figuur die vandaag nog altijd tot ieders verbeelding spreekt: Raspoetin.
