But because I had to make brutal choices in this episode, take Rabbi Shlomo Goren, for example. He shows up later blowing the shofar at the Western Wall in 1967 and again for his writings on the Temple Mount. But he was also the IDF's first chief rabbi and one of the great halachic, meaning Jewish legal, minds of the movement. He and the rest of the people I'm about to name deserve their own episodes, not a cameo, like Rabbi Chaim Drukman, who built much of the Bnei Kiva, the Mizrahi world that raised generations of religious Zionists, including me, I guess, or Zebulun Hammer, or Nechama Leibovitz, or Rabbi Shaul Yisraeli, or Rabbi Eliezer Melamed.
