[…] Anyway, the taxes that you probably remember They were imposed. They were taken off. And every time one was taken off, another one came in. And the Americans really got upset about this. And so one of the most visible ways they were upset is they had a tea party. Some of you may remember this, the Tea Party in 1773. And what happened is a number of colonial leaders in Boston, dressed up as Indians, went on board a ship and threw the tea into the harbor. And they did that because the tea was tea that the colonies had to buy. They weren't allowed to import tea other than from this one company that was controlled by the British government, in effect, and they had to pay a tariff. […]
