About Weekly Bird Report
The Weekly Bird Report with Mark Faherty can be heard every Wednesday on WCAI, the local NPR station for Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, and the South Coast. Mark has been the Science Coordinator at Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary since August 2007 and has led birding trips for Mass Audubon since 2002. He is past president of the Cape Cod Bird Club and current member of the Massachusetts Avian Records Committee.

[…] Wednesday was so busy at the Wellfleet Bay Sanctuary's Songbird banding station, the staff had to work overtime, with highlights including a hooded warbler, yellow-breasted chat, clay-colored and Lincoln sparrows, scarlet tanager, and rose-breasted grosbeak. Fort Hill and East Am was busy with new migrants both days, at least 17 species of warbler, and an unheard-of six species of vireo, including birder-friendly rarities like a Bell's vireo, Morning Warbler, and a Lark Sparrow. On a Cape Cod Bird Club walk to Fall Migration Hotspot Highhead in North Truro on Thursday, participants were practically swatting away songbirds with double-digit counts of vireos and warblers and multiples of crowd favorites like Scarlet Tanager and Tennessee Warbler.
