We’re Expecting! + Why We Shared Early (Ep. 15)

In today’s episode of Worthwhile, I’m finally sharing where I’ve been lately… and our family’s special news: we’re expecting our fifth baby!

Along with our announcement, I wanted to have a thoughtful conversation about something that has been on my heart recently — the culture surrounding early pregnancy announcements, both in the world and within the church.

Why do so many women feel hesitant to rejoice openly in the earliest weeks of pregnancy? What would it look like for Christian families and churches to truly celebrate life from the very beginning? And how can we walk through both joy and sorrow together as the body of Christ?

This episode is not about creating pressure or rigid expectations around when to share pregnancy news. Instead, it’s an encouragement to think through these things in a distinctly Christian way — with gratitude, faith, hope, and open hands before the Lord.

We talk about:

Announcing pregnancy before 12 weeks

Christian perspectives on early pregnancy

Rejoicing in life from conception

Pregnancy after miscarriage and loss

Church culture and Christian fellowship

Supporting expecting mothers in the church

Walking through grief and joy together

Encouraging young mothers in their excitement

Building a culture that celebrates children as blessings

Trusting the Lord in uncertain seasons

I also share personal experiences with miscarriage, community support within the church, and why I hope our churches become places where women feel free to rejoice openly over new life from the very beginning.

Thank you so much for being here, for sharing these episodes with friends, and for all of your kind messages and encouragement while I’ve been away. I’m so grateful for this community and excited for upcoming episodes on hospitality, homeschooling, and more conversations on faithful family life.
