Nick Lavery: The Green Beret Who Lost His Leg & Refused to Let His Story End | AJ Buckley Show

What happens when you lose your leg in combat and everyone tells you your career is over, but you decide that's just the beginning? This week on The AJ Buckley Show, AJ sits down with Nick Lavery, a Green Beret who embodies everything this podcast stands for: faith, family, fatherhood, freedom, and fitness. Nick's story isn't just about survival. It's about refusing to let tragedy define you and betting everything on an impossible comeback. Nick opens up about growing up as a small, insecure kid in Boston who was bullied and bounced around schools every year, yearning to be strong and respected. That yearning led him to a Marine Corps recruiter in high school, then to college football, and ultimately to September 11th, 2001, the day that changed everything. Watching the towers fall ignited a fire in Nick that sent him straight into the Special Forces pipeline with one mission: get to the tip of the spear, get payback, and get out. But then he fell in love with being a Green Beret, and everything changed. In 2013, Nick's leg was shot off by a machine gun in Afghanistan, fired by someone he had trained, someone who also killed three of his brothers and wounded seven others. Most people would have called it a career. Nick called it the beginning of the fight of his life. Fueled by competitiveness, rage, and an unbreakable refusal to quit, Nick spent the next two years relearning how to walk, run, shoot, and operate at the highest level, all while battling doubt, pain, and the fear of his own teammates that he might become a liability. But Nick didn't just come back. He became a legend. The Afghans called him the Machine Fighter, a six-foot six cyborg walking through villages, and that nickname became the foundation of his business, his brand, and his mission to help others achieve the impossible. AJ and Nick dive deep into the warrior mindset, the difference between determination and madness, what it takes to be a champion, the therapeutic process of writing his book Objective Secure, and why attention to detail in the most boring tasks separates elite from legendary. They also talk about fatherhood, the moment Nick held his newborn son and realized his identity had to evolve beyond being a soldier, the gift of perspective that comes from being a parent, and why he believes kids need to experience loss, pain, and failure in order to build resilience. Nick shares how his wife, an active-duty Army Special Operations officer with 26 years of service, has given him the unique perspective of being both the operator deployed and the spouse waiting at home, and how that duality has shaped the way he leads, loves, and lives. This conversation is raw, emotional, and packed with lessons on discipline, teamwork, mental toughness, and what it means to live a life of purpose. If you've ever faced an impossible challenge, been told you can't do something, or are searching for the courage to get back up after life knocks you down, this episode will change the way you see adversity forever. Eric Stoffers: The Miracle Clinic in Medellín That Changed My Life | AJ Buckley Show

What happens when chronic pain takes over your life and traditional medicine offers nothing but surgery and pills? This week on The AJ Buckley Show, AJ sits down with Eric Stoffers, founder and CEO of BioXcellerator Clinic in Medellín, Colombia, the place AJ credits with completely transforming his life and getting him out of debilitating pain. Eric shares his incredible journey from selling Garbage Pail Kids on the playground to opening P.F. Chang's restaurants across America, building a career in real estate, and eventually discovering stem cell therapy while marketing a resort property in Cabo San Lucas. With no medical background and zero scientific training, Eric bet everything on a vision that most investors thought was absolutely insane: building a world class regenerative medicine clinic in Medellín, Colombia, one of the most misunderstood cities in the world. But Eric didn't just build a clinic. He built a place of miracles. A hallway of hope. A sanctuary where people who have been told by doctors they'll never walk again, never be out of pain, never live a normal life, are getting their lives back. AJ opens up about his own journey to BioXcellerator after suffering severe injuries on the set of SEAL Team, losing feeling in his hands, being unable to pick up his kids, and facing the possibility of multiple spinal fusion surgeries that would have ended his career. They also dive into the experience Eric has created, inspired by Richard Branson's philosophy of hospitality, the importance of anti inflammatory protocols before and after treatment, why alcohol and poor diet can sabotage your results, how Eric's team of world class Colombian doctors caught AJ's labrum tear that every American specialist missed, and why Medellín has some of the best trained trauma surgeons and medical infrastructure in the world. This conversation is raw, emotional, and packed with hope. AJ gets visibly choked up talking about what it felt like to run again, to pick up his kids again, to wake up one day and realize the pain was finally gone. If you or someone you love is living with chronic pain, autoimmune disease, neurological conditions, or has been told there's no hope, this episode might just change everything. Ryan Magin: The Disruptor Who Made 50 Million Views in 24 Hours During a Hurricane | AJ Buckley Show

What happens when you post 100 videos during a Category 5 hurricane and wake up to 50 million views? This week on The AJ Buckley Show, AJ sits down with Ryan Magin, the disruptor who figured out TikTok before anyone else knew it existed, built million-dollar businesses from his bedroom, and turned chaos into content gold during Hurricane Milton. Ryan shares his incredible journey from BMX pro to retail employee at Lowe's, to pioneering the exact match domain SEO game, building a six-figure fashion empire called Handsome Guy Secrets, and eventually becoming one of the most sought-after content strategists in the creator economy. He's worked with Grant Cardone, Jordan Peterson, Ryan Pineda, and some of the biggest names you can't name because of NDAs. But this conversation goes way deeper than viral videos and view counts. Ryan opens up about losing everything twice to hurricanes, moving his family four times in two years, going from negative $9,000 in his bank account during COVID to building a million-dollar agency, and why he believes posting 10 videos a day for 90 days will change your life forever. AJ and Ryan dive into the creator economy, the clipping phenomenon, why subtitles took over the internet, how AI is reshaping content, what it really takes to go viral, the mental toll of chasing views, and why most business owners are overcomplicating content creation. Ryan breaks down his philosophy on volume, authenticity, disruption, and why your cell phone is the only tool you actually need to build a personal brand that makes money. They also talk about fatherhood, work ethic, betting on yourself, pivoting when life knocks you down, and why being a disruptor is the most important trait you can have in today's world. Whether you're a content creator, business owner, entrepreneur, or someone trying to figure out how to stand out online, this episode is packed with actionable advice, raw honesty, and proof that if you're willing to outwork everyone else, you can build something from nothing. If you've ever wondered how to grow on social media, make money from content, or turn your life around when everything falls apart, this is the episode for you.
