Andrew and Peyton review âDiggerâ, the new Tom Cruise vehicle from Alejandro GonzĂĄlez Iñårritu.
Cruise plays Digger Rockwell, a fat, balding oil billionaire so powerful that the president bows to him. After an environmental catastrophe he repeatedly ignored sends a wall of ice floating toward Europe, Digger must manage the political fallout. Digger got us into this mess. Can he dig us out?
From the Oscar-winning team behind âBirdmanâ and âThe Revenantâ, âDiggerâ is a comedy-drama featuring a version of Tom Cruise youâve never seen before.
Peyton and Andrew dig into the movieâs themes and the real life merger(s) that could have been ripped from its screenplay. They discuss the performances from Tom Cruise, Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, and more, and they take a look at upcoming releases âMuskâ and âThe Altruistsâ.

Possession (1981)
Itâs officially spooky season, and Cinephomaniacs is starting it with a bang! Peyton and Andrew review Andrzej Ć»uĆawskiâs 1981 cult classic âPossessionâ.
Sam Neill (RIP) and Isabelle Adjani play Mark and Anna, a couple living in West Berlin whose marriage is rapidly falling apart. When Anna asks for a divorce and begins exhibiting increasingly strange behavior, Mark suspects sheâs seeing another man, but the reality is something beyond his wildest nightmares.
âPossessionâ premiered at the 1981 Cannes Film Festival, where Adjani won the award for Best Actress. Ć»uĆawski wrote the film during his own painful divorce. The result is a bizarre mix of drama, horror, action, and sci-fi.
The film was banned and censored for years, but you can now watch it from the comfort of your living room. âPossessionâ is available on Shudder and for free with a public library card on Hoopla and Kanopy.
This episode also features discussion of âMasters of the Universeâ (2026) and Curry Barkerâs âObsessionâ followup, âAnything but Ghostsâ (2027).

Primetime
Have a seat and listen to an all new episode of Cinephomaniacs. Weâre talking A24âs new psychological thriller âPrimetimeâ!
Inspired by true events, âPrimetimeâ follows âTo Catch a Predatorâ host Chris Hansen (Robert Pattinson) over one tumultuous season in 2006. As the show reaches peak popularity, Hansen struggles to meet demand for more exciting perpetrators, all the while dealing with a personal crisis of his own creation. When the walls start to close in on Hansen, audiences will wonder whether heâs motivated by a righteous crusade against evil, a lust for fame, or a bit of both.
Documentarian Lance Oppenheim (âSome Kind of Heavenâ, âSpermworldâ) directs his first narrative feature, with a distinctive visual style that feels ripped right out of a 2000s TV.
With a cast that also includes Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers, âPrimetimeâ is tense, scary, and surprisingly funny, and Andrew and Peyton get into all of it, plus mini-reviews of âBoogie Nightsâ and the new South Korean action sci-fi âHopeâ.
