[…] And then the next time you get exposed to it, you're that difficult to pronounce drug. So the reaction is characterized by a sunburn like diffuse erythematous rash and conjunctivitis. So that makes some aspects of the scorch easy to remember. Kind of looks like they were outside with their eyes open on a sunny day getting scorched. All patients had lymphopenia and some end organ dysfunction, either kidney or liver, as evidenced by their labs. There was no mucosal erosion or ulceration, so that helps distinguish it from some of our other severe drug reactions like SJS and RIME and things. Fortunately, this seemed to be a self-limited reaction as mean time to resolution was 72 hours, max of 96 hours, without systemic intervention. […]
