[…] So you did a mix. Yeah, I did a mix, which means I had to carry. You know, a tent, a sleeping bag, a sleeping pad, a little, you know, hiking cook stove and some propane and, you know, a pot. So I was carrying a fair amount of stuff. I was probably carrying 40, 35, 40 pounds of gear. But one of the wonderful things about the bicycle is the bicycle is a work multiplier. When you're backpacking, you've got to carry all that stuff on your back. But on the bike, the bike carries it really quite easily. When you're standing still, the bike is heavy because you have this extra weight on it. But once you start moving, the bike reacts just like it does when it's not carrying a lot of weight. […]
