Jarlath collects anonymous questions from frazzled and exhausted parents, while Tina shares more than 20 years of experience working in early childhood intellectual, behavioural and social development. With genuine problems from real parents it’s anyone’s guess what the questions will be but the pair will gamely tackle anything that’s thrown their way. Expect all manner of queries including:

We’re back (only a week late… which is basically early for us) after a whirlwind tour in Boston, New York and Philly, and we’ve come home wrecked but full of observations. Including one big one: way less screens around little kids over there, and kids just… playing. For hours. Like it’s the 80s again.

Tina's Potty Training Blueprint, Bedtime Routines 101 & Distracting A Spoiled Child
Are you dreading potty training? Is your kid refusing to go to bed? Is your kid spoiled and throwing tantrums? Welcome back to another episode of Honey! You’re Ruining Our Kid! Myself and Jarlath have been here, there and everywhere. Life has been so busy we are feeling like we have toddler sleep deprived fatigue again. Definitely a tiredness we thought we had outgrown. Do your kids sleep well once they are in bed but getting them into the bed is the exhausting part? How do you switch up your bedtime routine so that you don’t end up on the couch regretting everything that just happened. This week we help a mum recalibrate her bed time ritual so that both her girls feel a little more independent and perhaps more involved in their bedtime schedule. Calm heads, happy hearts that hopefully lead on to sweet dreams.

We have a life hack for spoiled kids and definitive proof that it works. What does distracting your child mean? How do you break away from the idea of punishment and consequences? The idea of "ignoring and distracting" seems wrong and yet it gets the best results. How and why does it work? Children want attention let’s teach them a better way of getting it.

We are nearly through the hardest, coldest, darkest and most financially tricky month of the year. We are all trying to just hang in there. Spring and hope are on the way. In the meantime Jarlath is on tour and the world seems to be on fire. How do we talk to our kids about what they might be seeing on the news? We get into that and three brilliant listener questions.
Question 1. Is My Kid Falling Behind In School?
Looking forward to a holiday can keep the whole family on track. Booking a family holiday during school time can help save money. Will it impact your child though? Are you getting real savings or are you about to make their school life harder. Will it affect their friendships? Their learning? Will they catch up or will it have a long lasting impact?
Question 2. Is My Kid Sleeping Due To Anxiety?
What is a family and who decides how it should look? All the matters is that your child is loved and feels safe. Is it tough though if your community makes you feel like outsiders because your family doesn’t fit the stereotype of what is considered normal. If this feeling of being the outsiders starts to impact your kid what can you do?
Question 3. How Can I Get My 8 Year Old Enthusiastic About Reading?
We are all aware that it is harder to get boys reading than girls. There are lots of different reasons for this. Sometimes it can be as easy as just finding the right book that captures their interests. Sometimes it can be hard if there are gaps in their learning or they haven’t fully understood how to blend sounds to make words.
