I got pushed heavily into microservices approach with a product we had built and were rearchitecting into microservices, and it was the worst mistake ever. Things just became more complicated. It was harder to maintain. It added a lot of latency and security issues, and the complexity was just not worth it. So I came up with a new acronym, Appropriately Side Service, or ASK. I 100% believe in services, separation of concerns, and clean architectures, but the approach must be appropriate to the complexity of the solution and the size of the team. […]
