[…] So normal product markets, if prices go up, we might buy less. So this is econ 101. Prices should be a rationing mechanism. But for some reason in financial markets, if the price goes up, we buy more. And that's the opposite of Econ 101. So Jason Zweig of the Wall Street Journal once wrote an article saying the biggest problem with stocks is the letter T. Why? Because it was socks. The more expensive stocks are, we would buy less. Whereas with stocks, we actually do something which is irrational. We tend to overextrapolate and this leads to the bubbles and the herd behavior that I mentioned earlier. […]
