[…] And so the perspective that I bring to the table in that role is really being a really curious person and often asking questions about why we're doing things that may not be evidence-based. So really the inspiration behind this, I can't take credit for the original idea to think about follow-up and whether or not it's always appropriate. That credit goes to Eric Kuhn and Alan Schroeder, who a few years ago led a trial that was called BENEFIT, or the bronchiolitis follow-up intervention trial. And what they did in BENEFIT was they really asked the question, is something called as-needed follow-up any worse than universal follow-up with respect to outcomes like parent anxiety, ED revisits, and readmissions? […]
