[…] It's incredible sometimes when I talk to women in general, wherever I am, somebody's had an experience similar. You know, it is not a rare thing, which is frightening to think about. One of the saddest things I discovered while researching this episode is that so many women don't report sexual assault when alcohol was involved, not because what happened wasn't serious, but because they blame themselves or worry nobody will believe them, which is exactly what I did a couple of times in my life. Research has found that women who are intoxicated at the time of an assault are more likely to feel responsible for what happened and less likely to report it because they fear being judged. […]
