So the author of the pre-sentencing report said that throughout the process of talking to him, Geoffrey Donaldson maintained his innocence and made it clear to the probation service that he is going to appeal. And the report concluded that Geoffrey Donaldson poses a medium likelihood of re-offending. And the reasons given for that are these. His distorted reasoning, the risky behaviour he displayed over a prolonged period of time, the lack of empathy that he has demonstrated for his victims and the beliefs he has that enable him to deny facts about what he did. The judge said that he agrees with all those assessments of Geoffrey Donaldson. […]
